About the Exhibition

The exhibition is a project by Circus Life, a Ukrainian media about circus arts. The vibrant photos capture breathtaking stunts performed by Ukrainian circus artists — both adults and children — who, despite the war, continue to perform in the ring and remain dedicated to their craft.

The captions accompanying the photographs share personal stories of the artists in the context of the war, providing insights into Ukraine’s circus studios, state circuses, and the transformations of the art form due to the ongoing conflict.

The exhibition aims to showcase the beauty of the Ukrainian circus, encourage visitors to reflect on the importance of art even in times of war, and challenge the stereotypes surrounding circus art in society.

Read about Volodymyr “Baidar” Boichuk, a circus artist, acrobat, and now a serviceman in the Armed Forces of Ukraine defending his country with the Azov Regiment, here.

Come and discover why Egyptian artist We-am Hassan decided to return to Ukraine during the war, the heights reached by Ukrainian circus star Mariia Shevchenko in her performances, which circus artists have joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, how the brave Ukrainian Anna Petrenko became a fighter against Russian propaganda at a festival in Italy, and many other stories of young and adult Ukrainians — circus artists.

International Acclaim

The exhibition was previously successfully showcased at the “Art Space in Exile” gallery at the Continental Hotel in Berlin from October 26 to November 24, 2024, where it captivated international audiences.
